Osage hills state park


One of the best parks in the area, Osage Hills State Park has over 1,100 acres of land - perfect for a little getaway and some much-needed relaxation. The park has several structures that were built by the Historic Civilian Conservation Corps during the late 1930s and 40s. Mixing history with modern taste, Osage Hills State Park offers endless adventures; there's something for everyone. While you visit, be sure to explore dozens of trails, picnic areas, the playground, and the swimming pool.

In need of a hike? Try walking Sand Creek Bluffs - a short hike to the sandstone bluffs that overlook the green-tinted creek - is one of the most popular trails to hike. Another popular trail to try out is the Creek Loop Trail. Most of the trails in the park are under five kilometers.

If you love fishing, come test your skills at Lookout Lake. Stocked with bass, carp, catfish, and perch, the lake is the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. If you're not into fishing, no worries! You can hammock, picnic, hike, and swim.

The park is pet friendly so don't hesitate to bring your dogs. There are showers and electrical hookups and fires are allowed. If you're lucky, you can spot squirrels, woodchucks, lots of birds and even the occasional armadillo.
